Two tests, two hit wickets! What are the odds? Are they painting the creases in the right spot?
![]() Maybe I should find me a bookie, wonder what the odds for another in the 3rd Test will be? ![]() Well, I think the Windies are doing better this time round. Do ya think they can force a draw? |

Australia has a lead of 199 with two days to go. It seems that the wicket has held up better than expected but likely to offer MacGill and Hogg a lot of assistance (one of these two is due for a good haul).
Given how quickly Australia can score, the Windies will need to fight a significant rearguard action to hope to force draw. Australia to go 2 up and retain the Frank Worrell trophy. |

I agree. Australia should get to a lead of 400+ by tea which would give them 4 sessions to bowl the Windies out. That should be enough.

(Michael Holding in Guyana) "The terrorists would not kill too many people were they to blow up these stands right now"
(Tony Cozier in Trinidad) "Hans Blix wouldn't find too many weapons of mass destruction in this west indian attack" we need more commentators like this i feel. |

A Lara centruy coudln't save the day.
What has amazed me is the lack of firepower in the Windies attack. I remember the days well of Holding, Marshall, Garner, Roberts, Ambrose, Walsh etc. The current attack seems to have no fire or pace at all. Apparently there is a young pacemen in the sqaud that has a bit of speed. Got to be better than the boring trundlers that passes for the Windies attack at the moment. McGrath is back for the next test. Interesting to see who is dropped. Two bowlers may go to make way for McGrath and Love. I'd say Bichel and Hogg. Gillespie has bowled well and Lee (apart from dropping Lara) has had pace and intensity. Interesting to see if Love and Clarke get an outing in three day match. Hard to separate Hogg and MacGill (both have inconsistent) but MacGill probably will get the nod. |

What I can't understand about the Windies bowling attack is:
1. Why are they using Kookaburras? The "Well they're being used everywhere else, so we figured we'll get used to 'em" excuse they're using is pretty lame. It's your home series for chrissakes, use whatever ball you want that suits your bowlers and pitches! (Which Kookies don't!). 2. Why the hell are they bowling with a scrambled seam all the time? This might tie into point one - bowling with a scrambled seam may well work with other balls the bowlers are used to, but it's clearly not doing anything with the Kookies. Oh for the days of Walsh, and Ambrose, and Garner, and etc.. ![]() |
