Excuse my thickness. Good point. I think the Government and the Mainstream Media (which appear to be one in the same these days) realize that the cattle need one readily identifiable DEMON to feast on at a time. The bucolic bovine collective mind of the masses is easily distracted and immobilized if overwhelmed with too much complexity.

By the way, have you noticed that the spelling of Al Qaeda appears to vacillate much like the spelling of Muammar Qaddafi did many years ago? Got to keep the cattle on their hooves, I suppose.

Actually, I've noticed that on this board a LOT. It seems everybody has their own private way of spelling it. Mine comes from a newspaper article written by a guy who seemed to know what he was talking about... al Qa'eda. Anybody know for sure how it's reallyactually spelled?

Even if I did I couldn't show you because I don't have an Arabic character font installed on my PC. AFAIK there is no accepted standard for spelling Arabic words in the Roman alphabet. Ideally I would use whatever spelling the New York Times does, but as a practical matter I use whatever variation of Al Qaeda seems to make sense to my brain at the time..
