Other religions that I have studied, albeit not in depth but rather the basics of, are;

* all of the Eastern philosophy's which mostly teach that goddliness can be obtained rather than there being a Supreme Being.

* Paganism which seems to have been influenced by God but misunderstood.

* Judaism which I consider the basis of Christianity and believe must be brought back into Christianity in order for Christians to properly understand their faith.

*Islam just seems to be a rebellious religion against Judaism and Christianity. Since this faith developed after teachings of Jesus the Christ I see no need for it to have come into being other than for the personal gain of those who lead it.

* Mysticism in it's many aspects seem to be reaching for a desire to merge the spiritual world with this physical world and just don't seem right to me.

I believe that God has had an influence over all religions and philosophy's that have ever occured in the world. I believe that God has not been understood by any of these religions including what has developed with todays Christian denominations.

I base my Christian faith solely on the New Testament writings that are attributed to Jesus Himself. This flies in the face of pretty much all current Christian organizations which are based on the Roman Catholic Church or defiance of the Roman Catholic Church.

No, they're not. But it illustrates my point: you're assuming the answer.

Still wrong. Why are you insisting that you know my thoughts? Is there a reason you will not take what I say for what it is and not make your own assumptions of what you think I mean?

I have very clearly stated what I meant to state about how I came to my beliefs. If you don't believe what I write, that is your problem.

Of course I don't know your exact thoughts, but your thought-processes are obvious. You've clearly spelled them out yourself on this thread. I'm referring to that. Why do you get so defensive when someone makes comments on the processes that you yourself have shown us? If you're going to post them, they will be subjected to scrutiny.

Right. And I am offering comment about that.

Why should I automatically belive what you write? Are people not capable of lying on these boards? (Oh, my God! Valdemar called me a liar!!!) No, I didn't call you a liar. I'm just very curious how you can say that you assumed the Bible was a "lying fabrication" and then come to the conclusion that it is true. My question is simple: why not apply that to a Tom Clancy (or any modern-day) novel as well?
