Default Happy birthday Hitler!

Among other things.

What a versitile day today. First, it's Easter, second, Hitler's birthday, third, the Columbine shooting anniversary and fourth and certainly least, all the little stoners around here finally get their moment after shouting "420! 420!" all Thursday whereupon they'll all get high, demonstrating the need for in house riot police.

Also, my entire family comes over and I've wisely opted (been forced) to stay in my room because I'm apparently quote "an embarassment", because I have a nice overshirt on that is- gasp- black.

Happy painful dying on the cross day Jesus!

I've been forced to abstain from wearing my "Normal People Scare Me" t-shirt...

Don't forget the anniversary of the Ludlow Massacre.

On April 20, 1914, at the behest of John D. Rockefeller, Jr., numerous striking coalminers and their wives and children were slaughtered in a cooperative effort by the Colorado Militia and Pinkerton guards at a tent city in Ludlow, Colorado.

It's a widely held belief that modern public relations was born in response to said festivities, when huckster Ivy Lee successfully manipulated the story so as to place the blame squarely on the shoulders of the victims.

Happy Zombie Day, Jesus!
Happy Birthday, Hitler!
Happy Public Relations Day, Robber Barons!

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday, Mr. President,
Happy Birthday to you!

(BTW, I was born on the day that Gilligan's Island first aired, should anyone wish to set plans in motion for the joint anniversary fete.)

We had one of those interesting conversations this morning.

My wife idly asked the kids if they knew what day it was.

#2 Son replied that it was Hitler's birthday.

#1 Daughter didn't have a clue.

She asked if they knew that it was a religious holiday. Blank looks all around.

I patiently explained that it was the day of a spring fertility festival, upon which many pagans celebrate the goddess of the dawn, Eostre, whose symbols are reflective of new life, such as eggs and baby animals.

Wife gave up in exasperation.

We are such heathens.
