Maybe Jesus was a really good street magician, and all his apostles were like Bender.

It would appear that he is. Here's a reprint of my earlier post summarizing Bender's credulous claims in the "what an idiot" thread.

1) <laughter type="hysterical"> The Biblical Equations</laughter>

2) Doug knows when the world will end. Some time in 2003 I believe.

3) David Blaine "street magician" does real magick. I always thought that goatee of his was a little Satanic.

4) The Demon Haunted Rooftop.

5) The Isochron cock-up.

and recently I saw this

6) "God Himself cast a demon out of me while I was alone and driving and atheist (a "Saul on the road to Damascus"-type of experience)" on this thread

To me all of the above raises questions as to whether "Bender" is really just a troll. Can anyone believe all this? I mean compared to some of Bender's claims the virgin birth is starting to sound credible. Maybe that's his point. To post stuff so insane that plain vanilla X-ianity sounds plausible.

Yes, I remember the dream. And the above quote from my description of that dream was not a "prophecy", but expressed my opinion based on what I understood of things at the time. I was not shocked, nor was I "unnerved", that the Rapture did not occur before the end of the year 2000 - slightly "surprised", but all that meant was that I apparently did not understand everything that related to when the Rapture would occur. Currently, I feel even more confident that the Rapture will occur before the end of the year 2003, but I would not "prophesy" that it will - for all I know, it could be another 5 or 10 years (though from what I understand, it's very, very unlikely that it would not occur before the end of the year 2003).
I eagerly await.

Has anyone told Douglas that he needs to seek help? This is not normal thinking.

Douglas, you do realize how insane your ideas sound to others? Do you talk about this stuff in real life?

When performing the Balducci levitation, the setup is faked. The trick he does is real, as described in the article. The crowd-interaction, the beginning and end of the trick, and the crowd reactions are all filmed.

Later on, a hoist is used to raise Blaine up far further than in the original trick. Usually, someone with a similar jacket to one of the spectators stands so that the shot is taken over his shoulder, and appears to be in front of the same people.

The footage is then edited to fit in. Sorry, but Blaine does use camera tricks. Not too often though - he is skilled. But what he is guilty of is editing out preambles to tricks, bits of film where he might do a plant or get important information.
