DRFseven - I will concur with your analysis of the term 'sacred' - it does bear an intrinsically greater religious or dogmatic overtone than the term sprituality. Indeed, I only used the term 'sacred' becaused it was referenced in the m-w definition of 'spiritual.' I then clarified my interpretation of 'sacred' as 2b in the definition you posted. In fact, if not for the initial definition of 'spirtuality,' I would not even have brought up the term. I do not use the term sacred as part of defining any of my beliefs, my long standing opinion is that you should kick the 'sacred cows' of science. Upon being kicked, they will either fall over dead, or kick back on their own! Also note that I did not use the term 'sacred' to describe 'Principia' in my initial response. It is not in my opinion appropriate terminology.
Hope that helps settle our 'term' dispute! |
