Great cheap shot Biff!! Best laugh I've had all day!!

M's psychic skills may only go as far as finding his tokus
with both hands and a Ouija Board, as we say in Texas.

Magus55, you are simply a Christian of Jewish heritage. If you follow the teachings of Jesus and the New Testament, then you are a Christian. Why are you so reluctant to use the word "Christian"?

I see nothing wrong with the term Messianic Jew.

I question though Opera Nut's seemingly personal vendetta against Magus. You got a grudge or something ON?

Opera Nut does seem to have a grudge about this whole thing. Stubborn as hell too.

What do you expect from a Texan anyway? I don't think any Texan will admit he or she is wrong about anything.

(actually I like Texans----one of my brothers lives in Houston)

Just wondering Magus... is Jesus G-d incarnate?

What does Maimonides say about that?

How about Sabbatai Sevi? Some of those Jews believed he was G-d incarnate too.

There isn't anything wrong with it. But the Jews are still waiting for their Messiah.
If you'll check to see what the Jews expect from a Messiah you'll find that Jesus doesn't fit the job description. Not only didn't he save the Jews but Israel got wiped off the face of the Earth and he told his followers to forget about all the laws in the Torah. Read the NT and you find the Romans are stern but very just and the Jews are horrible people--Christ killers. The NT is about as anti-Semitic as you can get.

What is being called a "Messianic Jew" in this thread is a division (cult?) of the Southern Baptists that has targeted Jews as their victims.

Thanks RatBac and Esther for that sweeping indictment of 20 Million People who live in Texas. ALL 20 Million of us must be like.....THAT!! [[sarcasm alert]]]

Biff, you've restated what I and others have already said. Repetition seems to have no effect. You are absolutely correct.

I don't know why M is so afraid of the word "Christian". He's fooling himself and everyone else. Seems like lots of people love to get in the face of the infidel and proclaim their "Christian love" by trying to forcibly convert us to their faith. These people think that telling everyone they are a Good Christian means we're supposed to trust them.......They have not a monopoly on goodness.

A Messianic Jew is a no-brainer contradiction in terms and I have no idea why it's so hard for some to understand.

Sort of like "Good Christian Evangelist who consorts with hookers and molests children as well [See numerous examples]."

Another example:William Bennett self-appointed as the Moral Arbiter of America, caught gambling away $6 million dollars that he said "he could afford to lose".

Or a person who says, "I believe Jesus is the Messiah, but I believe in one god, Allah, and that Mohammed is the Only Prophet of God".

And how come if a woman is assertive, then she's "Stubborn" but a man is "decisive"?

The person who called Himself Jesus believed He was the Messiah, and He was an observant Jew - and He was certainly not a Christian.

True enough--

Jesus was a Jew. Considered himself a Jew for His whole lifetime. Why would He think He was Christian? (There was no such concept at the time. )

Of course He wouldn't.

Magus just wants to be a 1st century Jew. What is wrong with that?

Magus has got you Opera Nut. Why not just admit it? (Texans can be SOO stubborn)

I will not argue about whether Jesus said he was the Messiah when he said "Sum via veritas, et vita". I am not referring to any theological interpretation of the alleged words of Jesus.
Especially since there is no historical record of his existence and the Council of Nicea decided which books were to be canonicall (i.e. authoritative). That is in Biblical History and Archaeology.

I stand by my previous statement:

He still hasn't told us why he is so afraid to be called a Christian.
