You'll make me dig out my Synergy/Larry Fast tapes when I get home, if any of them will even play any more... I'll have to look for his stuff on CD someday, when I have money.

IIRC ebolamonger does as well... personally im sad, i loaned my Rasie your skinny fists like antennas to heaven album, and never got it back. And importing it from Canadia-land is just too damn expensive.

you remind me that I also listen to some industrial (eintzers en neubauten) and noise which would also be considered odd.

and also sludge, which is like slowed down drudging metal.
hmmm, i havent encountered sludge before, care to recommend some?

ju'iblex, have you heard the GSYBE! side projects like "a silver mount zion" and "set fire to flames" ? They are all pretty good.

Sludge? well my favorite is Neurosis (songs like "a prayer" or "soverign") Isis is also very good. (Their new abulm, Oceanic, got rave reviews)

Some sludge is jsut horrible though.
peace.

Default A taste for the bizarre

Avant-garde, surreal, satirical, non-conformist music is my passion.

Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, modern music (so-called "20th Century classical music," e.g., Arvo Part, Harry Partch, John Cage), John Zorn, Ornette Coleman.

I love old timey music - the most surreal music you will ever hear was sung by hillbillies.

Country music is wonderful - so long as it doesn't have drums. Cowboys don't carry drumsets.

But none of this is nearly so odd as Lionel Ritchie. My lord, C-o-a-S, that's just freaky!

I was going to ignore the Chicago thing, because of the seizures and all, but COME ON!

You're making this up! You're like the GG Allin of terribleness! Or some better analogy meant to illustrate that you like the worst music ever!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go practice playing the spoons.

lisarea -

LMAO!!!! I know, it's scary but true.... although I have a lame excuse...

When I was living in Papua New Guinea my freshman year of high school, circa 1986-87, there was no music available over there (no radio, internet, record stores) except for what people brought over with them. So we basically were stuck with whatever we had 'til somebody came in every few months.

Anyhoo, those 2 bands in particular are inextricably tied in my memory to some really awesome memories... just listening to "Hello" or "Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore" brings a big ole goofy grin to my face.

Lame, yes. But I can't help it.
