Question What Should I Do?

My situation, about a year ago I under went a psychotic evaluation, and was put on an antidepressant. No big deal, Paxil is mild.
Well, my "friend" being "concerned" about me has gotten me committed twice, put on an antipsychotic. She once called the police because I was not taking the antipsychotic and was in my room drinking wine (of course not harming anybody). There is nothing illegal about drinking Shiraz and refusing to take medication that did more harm than good. Her mom has even been calling me telling me to go to church.
Lately my friend moved out of town, and now she IMs me on MSN. She is totally whacked, taking like 10 different meds, telling me god is taking care of her, the doctors are saving my life, and all kinds of bullshit. She tells me to claim disability, quit my jobs, quit college, like yeah whatever. Well, I told her that I have not taken the antipsychotic for three months, and feel fine. She flipped out, demanding my telephone number and new address; I refused to give her any information. Well to add fuel to the fire, she is calling my doctor and telling him I am paranoid sycophantic.
Sycophantic??? I don't believe in an invisible friend in the sky, see Noah's Ark out of the corner of my eye, talk to myself, believe that pills will save me, or telling others to go to church.
I feel like I can't trust anybody in this town, and I have to hide from the "thought police".
What should I do?

The first thing I would do is to cut off all contact with this female, who is clearly off her trolley. Then I would inform the doctor she's been calling that she is off the aforementioned trolley, and ask the doctor to not listen to anything she has to say (if the doctor is inclied to listen to her, which I doubt). You don't seem to be too concerned about your own mental state, but I would get myself assessed properly, just in case. At least then you'll know what, if anything, you still have to do to get yourself sorted out.

First, your friend really needs help. But, do you need your meds? Please go to a doctor you trust, and together decide what medication you do and don't need. I understand that some psych drugs have side effects that make you not want to take them, and not knowing you or your history, you may not need them. But if they were prescribed at one time, if you haven't been back to the doctor, you may still need them, even if you feel that you don't.

Just my .02.

chanoc, I feel like I can't really answer your question. Why have you been put on an antipsychotic? Did you have a psychotic episode? What happened when she had you committed to an institution? Were you released at once because you had nothing or were you found to be ill? Did a doc you trust tell you to take the antipsychotic or not take it anymore? Generally, I would go to a trusted psychiatrist to get myself properly examined, if I were you. Clearly, your friend can't know you as well as a professional would, especially if she isn't seeing you any more. She appears to need some help herself from what you say, too. Taking several different meds and still having hallucinations doesn't sound good. Is she maybe seeing several different docs to get so many meds?

And, besides, what is "sycophantic"? Does she accuse you of sucking up too much?

I agree with this-- I don't know much about this subject, but if you were in fact committed, it seems your friend may have had some evidence of your need to be helped to back up her claim. I also don't think that you should try to seek serious advice here for this issue-- we don't know your history and are not qualified to advise you. Please seek a professional opinion-- even in another town if you must.

Finally as this doesn't seem to be an issue dealing with Secular Lifestyles, I'm moving to the Secular Coffeehouse and Lounge.

Thumbs down

First off...I wouldn't call Paxil that mild. After taking this med. for 2 yrs. I didn't know myself...literally...for my whole life I had been outspoken, opinionated and certainly didn't let anyone do me wrong. I became a door mat after being on this med. for 6 months....I didn't care if my husband came home...I didn't care when...I just went with the flow...no range of emotions @ all. Just one quiet plain...and you couldn't upset me about anything.

My mother noticed the change & I came off of it...only to find it had made my thyroid hyperactive and w/out this drug I would lose 75 lbs. over the next year...just did start leveling to the point I only lost 2 lbs. in the last 2 months.

My point is .... could you have been on it long enough for it to affect your behavior?...I like others here are concerned that this individual is CRAZY and would cease all communication with this person immediately...but, please don't consider this med. "mild"

She has had you committed twice? I assume that means to a mental health institution? Straight-Jacket and everyfing?

If thats the case...get a restraining order~or she will do it again.

What do you mean the drugs make it worst than better? Maybe you can get some new ones...?

Well, I got the beaatch off my back! I am not pychotic, she a hoe. She can suck my d!ck, like many times before...f#cking fundees think they have all the answers (Yes she's a Catholic and Republican, hate these people).
I was not put in a mental instittution, just the local hospital that has a mental health unit. This was worse than my 24 months in prison. At least in prison I could hang with the mafia, drink organic coffee all day all night, learn about rap music, play on a computer, have a job, and read any book I wanted. In the hospital I could not have my laptop, ipod, university books, drink coffee, and was put on meds that surpressed my sexualuality, fuck mental health they can suck my dick! I hate Pycho.. muthafukin doctors, like MC Hawking says, "Hurry up and die!"

Well, i have not took the shiz-nit in about two weeks, feel fine, and I am developing a hatred toward mental health workers, neoralogists, and pychiatics, you all can go back to school and study logic.
It's funny, I called them the other day, and this beacth tells me, you have not been here in quite some time, I said I have two jobs, university classes, and no time. And I added, BTW, I am a skeptic, atheist, why do you inquire why I have not been to visit mental health in three months? no answer.
I continued with, so you are a receptionist? You work with what OS? What's your software? What is the difference between a sans serif font and a serif font? What am I saying when I say font size 12, sans serif Arial? A document consists of what? In HTML a Web page begins with what, what's in the middle, what tag does a Web page end with?....
I'm a dick!
