As far as I am concerned, I generally like what he has to say. It seems to me that he uses good old fashioned common sense with a dash of psychology to extrapolate his points. I haven't seen any pseudoscience on his show as of yet, although I am just begenning to learn how to spot fallicious arguments.
It really seems to me that he just lays down the answers that everybody already has, but are not willing to face. As a freethinking atheist, this annoys me, but as a member of the human race, I can look back to times where I needed to have someone tell me something I already knew, but didn't want to accept for one reason or another. If there are different takes on this, I would really like to hear them, with explanations of why please. |

There have been a couple of previous threads on Dr Phil you might be interested in perusing. Check out Dr. Phil in M&PC and Dr. Phil Is Such A Pill in the RRP archive.
My personal opinion is that he's a dick. But then again, I don't dig on people who presume to know me better than I know myself. |

He always has great "Words of Wisdom" on David Letterman's show.
To his credit, he was nice enough to actually go on Letterman's show as a guest. Oprah should take a note from him. ![]() |
