AND nobody prays - in school or anywhere else. It's great; while a state/church connection is wrong in principle it has benefits.

I would gladly do this, if I had such a need. I'm lucky to be attending a high school where god is left out. A surprisingly high percentage of the students are atheists or agnostics as well.

I can think of reasons why this exercise may be useful anyway -- the most significant being, "do you want to keep it this way?" A little bit of positive reinforcement (as in, a paper saying, 'I think that this school is right not to go the way that the rest of the country is going') may help to further entreanch the existing system.

Maybe your teacher or principal will pass your paper on to a state legislator with the message, "I hope you see fit to oppose this type of legislation."
