I don't think Nietzsche cared much about what "should" hold society together. Birth of Tragedy was all about this (music/Wagner could justify Germany), but he refuted his own work. Doesn't Nietzsche say something more along the lines of "There is no morality; only what you can live with" and the Uber-man is the exemplification of this, not in the sense that society should rely on the uber-man or an uber-morality, rather that the uber-man can transcend the artificial boundaries of societal/moral existence.

Well, as my handle is based on Tyr Anasazi in the show Andromeda, who is a Nietszchean, I need to start reading Nietzeche myself!
