Substitute "I am me" with "I am Darth Danish" and suddenly the puzzle works. "I am me" is not true and "I am Darth Danish" is not true. They are both merely words and words can never completely and accurately represent reality. Technically speaking, words are always destined to be false to some degree in the face of reality. They are just a very useful crutch in certain situations. Nothing more.

But look at what we do with words. We turn them into reality. We are not eating a steak at a restaurant like we THINK we are. We are eating the picture and description of the steak that we found on the menu. Yes that's right, we are eating the menu. If we could just put the menu aside, we would see the steak that the waitress delivered 15 minutes ago. Hurry up because it's getting cold.

To emotional. Perhaps you are being too emotional. Try this. Drop every single notion that you ever had about God. Don't change your notions, drop them altogether. It's harder than you may think but try it. Maybe then you will experience God in the here and now.

Maybe one could think of it like the way some cats behave. The more you call them, the more you want them to sit on your lap, the more they ignore you. Ignore the cat and when you least expect it, it jumps on your lap and sits there comfortably. Best I can do.

I have, and I am trying to "enlighten" those who are still clinging to the words. But I have to use words for them to relinguish their attachment.

Just saying "follow your breath" won't cut it, for many of these higly intellectual people. It took me a while to realize this myself.

As Thomas says to Jesus in the Gospel of Thomas, when Jesus asks who he looks like: Thomas said to him, "Teacher, my mouth is utterly unable to say what you are like."
