Great Scott! Is there a single moderator in IIDB who hasn't expressed an opinion on this thread yet?

Heads up Cynical Chick, you're getting special attention

This is unfair, why do I never get picked on?

Not at all. I was just voicing my opinion based on my past experiences, and the experiences of people I've known. I take it, then, that you were never 18?

Default Ps--

Just found this that says what I was trying (and, aparently, failing) to say:

http://education.indiana.edu/cas/adol/development.html

Basically, and I see that I was misinterpreted , I was just trying to make the point that adolescence is hard, but that it goes away. Everyone goes through it, and everyone has similar experiences. You're not special.

Dear Cynical-Chick:

A hearty welcome to our forum! And congrats on spotting and rejecting stereotypes. I do too -- society holds that as a guy, I should be scratching my belly and swilling Bud while swearing at the Broncos on TV, that I don't show my wife enough affection or have heart-to-heart talks with her, that I'll cheat on her someday and write it off to "male evolutionary hardwiring," that I hate cats, yadda yadda yadda. Wrong on all counts.

I did some thinking about your points re victimhood and realized that an atheist board is the perfect place for you to be ... because who plays the victim role to the hilt?

You guessed it -- Jesus! According to Xian theology, not only did he get nailed up, he chose to even though he knew he and his daddy could have sprung him at any time ... and he did it all for you (never mind that you didn't ask him to, and indeed weren't even born at the time). Therefore, he now gets to tell you not only what to do, but what to think and what to feel as well, and you have to show him all the love he wants, in the exact manner, time and place and to the exact degree any given one of his representatives on earth tells you to, and if you don't, he gets to barbecue you for all eternity (presumably because you hurt his feelings). If that don't sound like an aggrieved "professional victim," I don't know who does.

Once again, welcome, and good to have you with us!

I think the real issue of concern here is why someone would shop at Hot Topic.
