Just got back a few hours ago and I loved it. Nightcrawler was awesome! I was a little concerned about Alan Cumming in the role. He's a brilliant actor and I would never doubt his ability in that department but I couldn't see him in the role of an action hero. He performed wonderfully though. I'm glad any doubts I had were unfounded.

Hugh Jackman was sexy, hot, yummy, all manner of booty-licious...and oh yeah...he's a fine actor.

I especially dug when Iceman's mother asked him if he could "try not being a mutant". I nearly fell out of my chair.

I was sad that Lady Deathstryke was taken out so soon into the whole thing. It felt like she was wasted (though the fight with her and Wolverine was great.)

I was very excited to see the introduction of the Phoenix element into the story. I've never read the comic series but even I'm familiar with Phoenix thanks to an X-Men addicted friend of mine and she always interested me.

I really really got a kick out of the invasion scene because it did give us the opportunity to see so many of the youngest X-men running around...did that little girl screaming hurt anyone else? I know it's supposed to hurt the people on the screen but...damn!

To make a long story short (too late!!) excellent movie. Going to see it again.

I'm not what you'd call an X-Men fanatic, but even I saw the Phoenix "foreshadowing" in the waters on the close of the movie.

editted to note, I think I replied to the wrong message.

You thought it was impressive? You should try watching that scene when the power goes out right all heck starts to break loose. Then, when the power comes on, only having the side speakers working.

Problem with too many special effects is that you can get lost in the movie that way. IE the director and writers will get lost. I much rather have production money spent on the actual plot than extraneous special effects.

I think the movie had a very good medium between plot and effects. The preview to the Matrix kinda bored me. Computer generated effects rarely ever excite me.

I know...I'm just nit-picking.

Again, I think Jackman is head and shoulders above the other "minor" X-men actors...I mean, you've got two Oscar-winners (Halle Berry and Anna Paquin) who are pretty much wallpaper, while Jackman and McKellan chew up scenery like it was so much chips and salsa.

Tangent...is the Malt Shop still around? Do they still serve the best Pizza in Mt. Dismal?

I think W@L more or less has the future plotline down and, I have to say, I"m personally very glad that silly shit like the Shi'ar (did I get the ' in the right place?) and the Starjammers are unlikely to show up. One of my favorite features of the movies is that they make an effort to stay focused on the main theme of the X-Men and not to go too far over the top and into unrelated material. No extraplanetary invasions, no Phoenix Force, no Mojoverse (although I do dig Longshot), and so on and so forth. They stay centered on the central theme of a group of concerned mutants trying to prevent a perhaps inevitable conflict between humanity and its mutant offspring.

Oh, and there had damned well better be some Sentinels in X3!

I agree with W@L, nothing else would make much sense. No other phenoix sceneario would relate to the first two movies.

Another name I noticed scroll by (where the aforementioned Gambit's name was spotted) was Kenchio Harada, aka the Silver Samurai.

From the first two movies, I get the feeling that there is alot to come. Is there a plan for 5 or 6 of these films to come? There is so much they can do with this concept. Finish up the current triology and then pick up later when some of the characters have aged.

"Days of Future's Past" might make an intriguing X4...

As for X3, it appears as if it'll be all Dark Phoenix...
