Most entities, real or not, have many facets to their definition. Whether you are defining a god, a person, a tree, whatever, it would be nearly impossible to completely define that entity's meaning. Typically, then, one would try, as completely as possible, to accurately and completely provide a definition for the entity as it relates to a certain context.

It depends. The word "meaning" can have different, well, meanings. One is basically the equivalent of definition, as in "what is the meaning of this word?" The other would be more equivalent to purpose, as in "what is the meaning of life?"
