Anyone noticed? This has not been posted to XTALK. Bwahahaha!
Can't wait to see how bad the damage is. I bet Israel loses a significant chunk of its heritage. According to the information I had, these guys have been at it since 1993. Also, no news of Lemaire.....hmmm... Vorkosigan |

My mistake, godfry. The ossuary is genuine, the inscription was faked.
Lemaire is, I suspect, beyond the jurisdiction of the Israeli authorities and likely to remain so. |

Relics have never meant anything to me, perhaps because I've always been aware of the countless forgeries made during the middle ages. The relics in Catholic churches has also never meant anything to me. For those who believe in our Lord, no proof of this nature is needed. For those who don't believe, no proof will ever be enough. |

Since no proof has ever been offered, I must recognize the rhetoric for what it is.

I'm sure that Sauron meant true ossuary believers; however, the simple fact is that all of Christianity, up to and including the history of Jesus Christ in its entirety, could be forgery. After all, there's nothing connected with the Bible that could *not* be forged.

I try very hard not to "flame" a poster who has not "flamed" me first--indeed, I never flame . . . I merely remonstrate in a fashion "measur'd in manner and speech." [Get on with it!--Ed.]
However, some time ago I had asked two posters to justify how they could rely upon texts of different ages and cultures--to quote from a "grab-bag," as it were, as if the components agreed with one another. Thus far, one has responded. Though I may not agree with River's explanations I will give him credit for responding. As for the other, I must confess it forces me to question her intellectual honesty. --J.D. |

Weeeellllll . . . have a little sympathy for those who jumped to conclusions--listened to the hype--and find their pride hurting.
Give them some time, the honest ones will retract. --J.D. |

'Bout time... I'll be interested to hear what they have against him when it goes to trial. He's been arrested before, after all. I still doubt that Lemaire is in on any conspiracy. I think he just got caught up in what he saw to be an exciting new find. I could be wrong, though. We'll see.
