You know, supposedly a thimble full of "biotoxic agent" can kill an entire city, or some such horrific thing.
Which means that any number of refugees now fleeing (and previously fleeing) in the hundreds of thousands (presumably, considering Baghdad has upwards of four million inhabitants) could each be holding, say, an old whiskey bottle full of the stuff. You know, like a flask of water, just walking across the border and into the hands of anyone they can get it to. Any mention of this on the news anywhere in your area? That our military is carefully screening each and every one of the hundreds of thousands of refugees that could easily be hiding elite Iraqi operatives, bodily concealing biotoxic agents while we play with our M.O.A.B.'s? After all, we are talking about terrorists, yes? The same kind of terrorists that Bush keeps telling us wiped out three thousand people with boxcutters, perhaps? The way David slew Goliath was not by pretending to be as big and mighty as the giant, but by being intelligent enough to use the giant's faults against him. A giant would consider only another giant a threat, so he wouldn't consider a tiny Iraq in a slingshot to be his death nail, now would he? But let's just all keep looking at the big explosions just now starting on our TV sets as the only casualties of this war will be innocent men, women and children. Hussein may not live; who knows, who cares, but his fucking legacy and martydom will be our industrial-military complex's wet dream for the next twenty years, if they can swing it. And with all the money they'll be getting over the next four years (above and beyond the near trillion dollar pricetage of this whole charade), they'll finally have the power and the removal of all legislative checks and balances to do it. Sorry, perhaps this should go more under "Rants and Raves," but the initial question was serious and I think raises pertinent questions, if indeed we aren't dilligently searching the refugees. Thoughts? |

True--but what choice have we? They may be a time bomb. But how can we deny aid to someone who needs it? We cannot know beforehand whether or not they will blow up in our face. Must we then ignore them all?
Search them? This would cause vast harm to those in who are looking to be saved. This is damned if you do, damned if you don't. |

Indeed, which hardly supports the notion that this war is about disarming Iraq and putting an end to terrorism
![]() By the way, I wasn't advocating that we kill them or turn them away; I was more commenting on how the stated motivations for this war are clearly false, and here's a perfect example. Our supposedly major concern is about stopping terrorists and their biological agents from being used against Americans, primarily, the rest of the world in our rhetoric, and yet one of the most obvious ways for the kinds of people that supposedly are just like the kinds of people that expertly used boxcutters to destroy the WTC to remove those biological agents throught the streams of largely unchecked refugees. Sort of like Han Salo detaching and drifting away with the "space trash" the empire inexplicably discards before jumping to light speed in The Empire Strikes Back, to use a horribly simplistic, but apt pop culture analogy. ![]() Getting them out earlier would not be as easy as everyone in America thinks and as UN Inspectors (the real ones) agree was probably happening, but they could never compellingly prove, the intent is surely prevalent. What better way to hide your tracks in a dessert than to be amongst a throng of wandering refugees. It's classic dessert thinking and the best way for Hussein to get out massive amounts of both biological agents and his more fannatical "crack troops" so that all Bush gets to do is kill the same citizens that Hussein apparently kills with reckless abandon on a near daily routine, if our propaganda is to be believed. It is classic "David and Goliath." Which, by the way, is where that story comes from, more or less. |
