Actually, if all the church money instead went to the poor. (So they could buy food and shelter.) The price of food and shelter would go through the roof. Then someone will still be so poor they can't or barely can afford food and shleter. And plus there's no more beautiful churches.

That said, I don't know. It still seems to so very obviously go against what christianity says. I would think a true christian would worship out in a field. (And of course christianity is wrong for plenty of other reasons.)

I would wonder if it says anything in the bible about the idea you're extolling Amos?
But I might not be here for an answer.

Gee, that scene has been beautifully choreographed. Notice how the head gear is in sequence...black, white, black, white.

I think it's a pity they didn't show the next part, where the nuns throw off their habits, jump on the table and sing..."Like a Virgin".

And of course, they are wearing naughty underthings, which they will show the audience in the final dance number.

Of course...lol

But it gets even better when the priests come in and do a very moving rendition of "Beautiful Boy".

OH evil!

Don't be angry wolf. Those who gave to the Church don't want the Church to redistibute their gifts.

A good solution to reduce poverty in N.America is to increase the minimum wage. As I understand even if this was tripled most would still make below what is known as the "poverty line."

Would that not be a very simple solution? or do you think that our economy will collapse because of it?

So then is it fair to create poverty within society so the rich can get richer and try to bleed the Church to compensate for this exploitation?

The church I used to attend would highlight the fact they gave 25% of their contributions to "missions". So as a non-profit charitable organization they collected 75% for overhead. Elsewhere in society we would classify such a non-profit as a scam and call for an investigation of the books.

On top of that, the "missions" are losely defined and include starting new churches in the United States and abroad. So with an $8 million dollar annual operating budget (and another $15 million in capital improvements donations that can only be used for buildings/development) they were able to do this for the community:

300 Children were sponsored through Compassion International

5,000 Sack lunches to Westport Neighbor 2 Neighbor

1,000 Angel Tree gifts provided to children of prisoners

500 Homeless people served Thanksgiving Meals
400 Homeless served on Christmas Eve at Westport N2N

Tons and Tons of clothing delivered to area clothes closets

Tons of food has been provided to local food pantries
$82,000 donated to Share the Warmth for low-income utility assistance

1,004 hours building homes for Habitat for Humanity

Helped build 16 homes for Habitat for Humanity

100 backpacks filled with school supplies were given to kindergarteners in the Kansas City School District

Tons of notebooks, paper, pencils, glue, erasers, notebooks, pencils and pens were given to local agencies for children needing school supplies

Commit 25% of every dollar to missions & compassion ministries

Sponsor Boy Scout Troop 92

Collected 27 tons of food for Souper Bowl Sunday, to stock local pantries

More than 300 pints of blood collected at last blood drive; COR is one of city's largest single donor

In my opinion, the most notable of their contributions to community are the donations of time, clothing, and food to build homes and serve the needy. None of those require a physical church building or the staff of 162 people who work there.

One million people die from AIDS in Africa and the rest of the world does not give a damn while 100 billion was spend to reinforce America's vainglorious power surpremacy.

Does that make sense to you?

Poverty is not retailliation but just like terrorism they are signs of social oppression.

I don't keep up w/ most of Amos's posts>>>> usually too long, & (for me) infuriating or nonsensical. However , his these-here at this thread strike me as so senseless, I just have to state this.<<< That all this edifice-crap is not destroyed by earthquake , fire, & flood seems to substantiate either that "gahd" is indeed a human fiction; or, that if "he" does exist , he's a stupid dirtyrotten gobshite, to worship whom wd be obscene. ATConsidered, probably I think "his" nonexistence more-likely.

It has been argued that if in Canada the minimum wage would be increased by one dollar per hour we would have an economic collapse because that would make fast food no longer affordable to the majority of working families.
