It seems so terribly reminiscent.

David Payne

I am a Communist yet I don't put faith in any govt that exists now, so why do you use blanket accusations in your critiques of communists by saying that we all have faith (whatever that is) in authoritarian systems?

Fervent anti commie. But...

Socialism has never been implemented by the workers, like Marx said. Rather, it has been implemented by politicians and militarians--Lenin, Ho Chi Minh, Castro, Che Guerva, Mao Zedong. Just a thought.

David Payne,

What I'm saying is that we all know why communism doesn't work. The answers that have been posted thus far are identical to those in the previous thread. Hell, I've posted so many critiques of communism/Marxist-Leninism it isn't funny anymore. What's your point?

Joel
My point is that this thread of Hal's has a pretty good post count and readership so far, so people are obviously interested in it. Isn't that what BB's are all about C, discussing things that people are interested in?

Hal, communism, like religion, has moved into the realm of faith. Its advocates have been put into the position of having to say,
"you have to believe that it's the best and it works, honest. Trust me! I know what I'm talking about."
They have no current working examples to show you, do they? Its interesting that the older communist systems are evolving into capitalist nations. Looks like communism has evolved into the lead stage for capitalism now, who'd of thunk it?

Capitalism on the other hand works, as is plainly visible from its inception, throughout history up to today. As to how well it works, and who benefits, well that is debatable, isn't it?

David

Perhaps my slightly altered signature is appropriate here in the political section too.

"God, Marx, and religion, the oldest scam(s) in history, and they still sucks them in today. So free your mind, and your body will follow!
The faith based comparison of the two is kind of funny if you think about it DP. And despite its flaws capitalism works, unlike communism.

I am a Communist and I don't have faith in any system that exists now.

So why do you guys make blanket accusations of a whole group that you don't even know?

And are you guys implying that successful system automatically means good system and unsuccessful means bad system?

I didn't say you have faith, I said ALL YOU HAVE is faith that communism works, just like the theists on the religious threads say about their beliefs in an authoritarian God and religious dogmas. As for the authoritarian systems tie in, well every Marxist system ever tried has resulted in an authoritarian system being instituted before or after gaining power, through revolution, or even at the ballot box. And they have all failed so far. Perhaps the situation in Venezuela will be the breakthrough communism so desperately needs to show it can work. We'll see.
