Me, I like them both. There's not much that sounds as good as the rumble of a lumpy-cammed V8, but then again the scream of an external wastegate venting to atmosphere on a full-house Toyota Supra at 8000rpm is aural heaven as well.

That being said, the primal bark and snarl of an Audi 6.0 V12 slotted in the back of a Lamborghini is automotive nirvana.
You yankers are getting the best of the American V-8's (new) too. Ford has done a lot down there with the Cobra engine, and the new GTO is from your crop of Holdens. I guess everyone wants what the other guy has.
Cheers mate.

I wonder if it's "The Roo Warrior" mentality driving that war.

I can't wait for the day a Lancer Evo VIII with the right mods pulls up beside Putney's POS Mustang Cobra...I wish I could be there to see the priceless expression on his face when he realizes...

...he just got schooled by a four-door.
I tried to drive an Evo, but the dealer down here said, "No go Bozo. You can drive after you sign the paperwork."

But bring it on, I'm easy to find. That's the only way you will have a chance of seeing my expression.

School is open. Who wants to take a chance at whipping a snake?

I had the pleasure of test driving a new Mistubishi Lancer Evo VIII yesterday (brand new in the States.)

The car is not named correctly. The correct designation should be Mitsubishi Lancer OMFG

What an amazing piece of machinery.

Indeed, the GTO is a slightly(cosmetically- I think the grill, fuel tank, obviously left hand drive, and not much else) different Holden Monaro. Monaro is also one of those car names with cult-status among the muscle-cars buffs, having been used on Aussie muscle-cars from about '68 through to about '79, and now(well, last year) resurrected. I think the V8 engine options(I think there is also a V6- a bored out Buick engine- option, but I'm not sure) are Chevy, though, just like the first few years of production in the '60s. The Aussie V8 has gone the way of the dinosaur...

Where I live, buses and subways are owned, maintained, etc., by a heavily politicized government authority. People talk about what a bargain our region's public transportation is; I guess those people don't pay taxes. For our taxes and fares, we get buses whose schedules are works of creative fiction, subway cars that appear to do double duty hauling garbage, and escalators that seem to be out of service more often than in.

Actually, for me to go to the places I do, it's cheaper and a damned sight more convenient/comfortable/enjoyable for me to drive, too.

[rant]Actually, I'm constantly pissed off that when hydro-electric power was introduced here(and, with wind power, now accounts for all our power generated), the government didn't see fit to expand the tram system(in fact, they scrapped it!!!), and electrify the railways(no regular passenger trains at all now, either). Am I dreaming, or does this seem like it would be good and cheap transport, as well as a way to cut down on pollutants? Nah, diesel must be better...:banghead: [/rant]

I ride my bike or take the bus when I can. But my dad got a car from me that he bought for a really low price from one of his co-workers. What I think is hilarious about the car is that it's a Cadillac Seville. My friends and I get a kick out of that. (A Caddy's not really my kind of car) If I could have any car in the world, though, it would be a black paint, grey leather, Saab 9000. My dad has one and I love that car.

You should take an 03 Cobra for a ride as well.

On the flipside, the brand-new engine plant (at Fisherman's Bend?) will be able to produce any engine from an in-line 3 cylinder up to a V10. The new range of Holden V6's (superseding the Buick 3.8L V6) are all Aussie designed and built. There will be 13 variants, including at least four turbocharged options ranging up to 260kW (345hp). All-alloy, quad-cam V6's with 4 valves per cylinder. Holden's finally using current engine technology! Now for the suspension, steering and handling...
