I spilled noodle soup on my keyboard at work, and they just gave me a new one. I suspect it's a lot cheaper to replace than to fix.
(You might wait and see if yours works better when it dries out, but I wouldn't count on it.) |

Take a picture of your keyboard or find a diagram on the Internet. Then take a spoon and pop off all the keys. Mop up all the excess liquid (and the rest of the gunk that's probably collected underneath - especially if you like to eat and type like I do). Let the thing dry out for a while, and then pop the keys back on.
If this doesn't work, I'm afraid you'll need a new keyboard. |

I agree with Bree, except that it's probably easier to take the bottom off the keyboard to mop up the gunk from that side (it will likely come apart in three basic pieces -- two halves of a plastic shell with a printed circuit board between with the keys attached.)
If it's just water you spilled, it should eventually evapourate leaving the inner workings of your keyboard no more gunky than they were before (hair dryer might help, but try not to get it so hot it warps.) |

i spilt a good whack of red wine on my laptop during infidelchat, i had to remove the keyboard itself, and mop it all up from underneath, as well as doing it key by key.
it still smells. ![]() |

well, I found the "on-screen keyboard" under accessibility options so now I can type with my mouse, albeit v e r y s l o w l y. I took the keys off of my keyboard and wiped up as much of the gunk as I could get and put the keyboard upside down to dry. I'll see how well it works in the morning. My dad is sending me a new keyboard too, so at least I'm getting another new toy out of it (another new toy to spill things on, that is
