Can't there a rule banning people for drive-by posting? She posts, she runs away. It drives me nuts!

Hi Gemma
Hi Gemma
I think there are many great things about the Catholic church indeed but I don't really agree with that quote. Thats ok though, we all think differently. I think if I was not so frustrated with the catholic church right now as an organization then perhaps I may lean more to agree with it. I have had some negative experiences lately that have seemed to question my own reasons for belonging to the church. My faith is intact but I am pretty fed up with organized religion as a whole right now. I'm kind of my own little sect... Regarding the church though I think high ranking officials within the church have not held some people (some priests and nuns) to be accountable for their actions of harming others. I am really against this. I don't think that this makes the *entire* church "bad" but clearly it does make the church flawed. To lack accountability and responsibility is never a good thing, but to attempt to hide what should be taken as serious and damaging is horrible in my opinion. Bottom line to that: I personally think God deserves better representation. Aside from that there are several issues within the church that I really do not think should pertain to the church, for example birth control. I really don't think its any concern of the church what methods are used for birth control. Thats a personal choice. I have decided to take some time away from the church since it has been such a big part of my life until recently. As a result of doing so, various church members have been sent to my house many times to see "whats wrong" I was open and honest with my pastor about it because I was very involved in my parish, doing the readings every week as well as working in the health ministry program and eucharistic ministry program. I think its best when people decide to take a break from anything they should be left to think things through and given the time and space that they asked for. I dislike the daily check ins from both the pastor and people within the church. While I understand the motives are sincere and I think well intentioned, it can get redundant and annoying. I desire to be left to my own devices and I think a church should be supportive of individual decisions. I want you to know though that I do admire your faith and admiration you have for the church. Like I said I think there are many positives and I think you are one of them. I feel the catholic church is lucky to have you on their side Gemma. Much love Amie |
