Default Louis Booth / Outspoken

Louis Booth at his best:

eric robert [sic] caught

In which Louis Booth/Outspoken suggests that "America's Moral Decline" is the result of its not being Christian enough and white enough.

This person is an Administrator at CF, with the power to ban others for "sarcasm."

But they're all claiming that Eric Rudolph is not a Christian. So Louis Booth is a Christian? rofl

As I understand it,

They must consult with each other to determine who is or isn't a Christian...

I am trying to sort that thread out. I have noticed a few things about Outspoken:

1. He has consistently slightly-off spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
2. The majority of his responses are terse and essentially unsupported.
3. He seems to feel fairly put-upon about the whole thing.

There's a clear pattern where he says something that seems to need support, spends a lot of posts refusing to clarify, and then reports people for getting mad at him.

However, I cannot yet tell whether or not this is intentional or premeditated.

In all the times I've talked to him, he's never, once, shown the ability to clearly elaborate and articulate a point. His arguments are NEVER anything but "nope, check your sources". I've never seen him present so much as a single syllogism. (I'd love to see an example, but I haven't found any.)

Likewise, I've never seen him back down in ANY way. I mean, on anything. No matter how trivial. I've never seen him admit to typos, to misunderstandings, to factual errors, to anything. There's one possible exception involving a thread about mathematics in the S,C&E forum, but I can't find it right now, and I think he carefully avoided admitting actual error.

http://www.christianforums.com/threads/12306-3.html

Here's the thread. Of particular interest is the same exact tactic being used as used in the more recent one; Louis is perpetually "too busy" to argue at length, but he somehow has time to tell us so twenty times.

Hmm. Nope, no admission of error there either, and that was the one where he said that 1! was 0, and made derogatory remarks about how people should "call their old math professors". Hell, I *did* call a real live math professor, just to be on the safe side.

The question, then, is whether this is malice or incompetence.

The case for malice is that, when he picks a thread to play these games in, he actively reports attacks on his person by the people he's so carefully baiting.

The case for incompetence is that, if he really felt persecuted, he'd do the same thing.

I do think it's pretty clear that the guy has problems. I simply cannot find a single example of a post by him which has a substantive argument to it. I would welcome a correction, but I have NEVER seen one, and the guy has something like 15,000 posts between his accounts.

The best available explanations are either:
1. He's doing this because it allows him to get rid of "bad" people - those who can be baited.
2. He's got some kind of learning disability.

I simply can't believe that someone in his mid 20's (he used to have his age in his profile, and he was either 24 or 26 then, but I don't remember which) could be this terse and uninformative, so consistently, unless either he was intentionally being disruptive, or he had a really hard time with the concepts.

His posts in the math discussion actually suggest that it's just very hard for him, and he easily gets things screwed up or reversed; thinking that 1! is 0 is the kind of error you'd associate with a mild learning disability... magnified hugely by an incredibly bad coping strategy, I might add.

It's pretty simple, seebs.

He's a sick [unrepeatable], just like the rest of them over there.

Yeah, I've thought the same myself, seebs.

(BTW, it's me, Starscream)

One time I completely exploded on him in a PM but felt very, very guilty shortly afterwards. After I apologized we had some very friendly PM's and I got to thinking that he really does have some kind of issue that is crippling him in these discussion.

BTW, I'm very upset with the way that thread is turning out. They really do look after their own over there.

Yeah. Every so often I can exchange a couple of PM's with him and everything's good, but 90% of his posts and PM's are just *TERSE*. And I don't know why; it can't be lack of time to talk, because he's on constantly and posts more than nearly anyone else.

And the difficulty backing down really is *amazing*. I've never seen anyone else so utterly unable to yield so much as a tiny point. It's far enough out that I'm sort of inclined to assume it's an involuntary disorder of some sort.
