proof for the soul, and I can give it till the cows come home, but you won't accept it, you'll always give a materialistic explanation (oxygen deprivation / endorphins / ketamine / take yer pick). Might as well try to talk the Pope out being Catholic.

You materialists crack me up. "We have the simpler theory, so the burden of proof is on YOU". The easy way. No need to disprove God or souls, always the burden of proof on the claimant. Very, very convenient. Setting up the rules of the game so that naturalism always wins.
So material evidence is to be blown off? If this is the case, how to you presume we set about deciding which myth is real and which is not? Shall I call the police reporting a kidnapping, or that changelings have stolen my child? Should go hunting for a wolf to protect my sheep, or gird myself in wolfsbane and silver in preperation to face the werewolf?

Unsupported claims are so much easier to defend off the field of battle.

I was born seven weeks prematurely. Does that mean I'm a Leo, or that I was supposed to have been a Virgo?

Birth is the defining moment in astrology.

I want it rephrase to say, If life is meaningless...

If life is meaningless, then I have the chance to give it meaning. Meaning created by myself and not by some supra-being who will never understand what it is to be Man.

A very large number of xians would answer that with a "yes."

emotional,

You materialists crack me up.
What about those of us who are atheists, who are not materialists, and who do not believe that souls exist? Surely you realize that not all atheists are materialists? (or have you been a deist for so long that you've forgotten?)

So, about that rock-solid, irrefutable proof that you have of the existence of souls.....let's see it!

Sincerely,

Goliath

No thank you, I've already been through this game. Any evidence I'll try to give you for the existence of souls or God will be rejected as such, or worse, construed to be evidence for the non-existance of souls or God. Both sides are locked inside their worldviews, so it's a game that can't be won.

My only hope is that future scientists will be forced to shift away from the materialist paradigm and admit the existence of anima (soul) underlying all things. But I don't think it'll happen in this particular lifetime of mine.

Walls are built around a hearth
Because of the doors we may use the house.
Thus wealth comes from what is,
But worth from what is not.
