Well, younger, the fact that galaxries are moving further and further rather than closer and closer shows that all the galaxries are moving outwards not inwards. Furthermore, if the space is constant how do you account for cosmic blackground radiation that was discovered in the last century.
As for the current theory of multiverse, I think Ed know more than I do. Somehow, I know little bit that this theory comes from the quantum effects.
