I voted not so much for Wiccan, but Pagan. Any religion that worships the Earth and it's nature is okay by me. The Earth, which created us, will be around a long time after the human species is extinct. We occupy just a blip on Earth's geologic timeline and our polluting, overpopulating activities are shortening the time Earth has allotted for us to live on her surface. I wonder when we are going to wise up.. ..

Since this is a "what if" scenario...

I am interested in the Buddhist and Taoist philosophies IRL (for being so "non-religious" for religions, and they just make more sense to me than any of the Western traditions.) |

I don't see why anyone would feel compelled to worship Earth/Nature.
The Earth is just a big rock with a slight organic film smeared over its surface. And Nature is a brutal cycle of death and suffering where many more are born than can be provided for and survive. Red in tooth and claw. |

One can hold nature in awe and wonder without worshipping it. The Earth is just a big rock with a slight organic film smeared over its surface. Ah, but what a wonder that "slight organic film" is! And Nature is a brutal cycle of death and suffering where many more are born than can be provided for and survive. Red in tooth and claw. That "brutal" cycle is what enables life. And along with death comes birth, transformation, change, play, wonder and discovery! Remember, you and I are both part of nature as well. We emerged from nature. In a sense, humans are the eyes, ears, and even conscience of nature. |

Fortunately as humans we have the best chance of breaking out of the "brutal cycle of death and suffering" and greatly improve our situation. More than any other a creature, we have the ability to crete a more pleasant utilitarian world. Therefor I would choose to worship MAN before I would ever choose to worship this horrible thing "nature" I see people raving about TO MAN! |
