Default PBS "People of the Book"

Covering the history of the Judean people and the Old Testament.

I found it to be very interesting. Although some of it seemed to be affirming belief in the associated mythology, most of it seemed to be rather objective in its presentation as a historical narrative.

I found it kind of light-weight. For me it talked too much about the stories and not enough about the motivations for writing them and especially the influences behind them. I kept waiting for them to mention the influence of Babylonian theology in the development of monotheism.

I didn't watch the whole thing, though.

It started off slow but got into a little more detail. Covered Babylonian and Helenistic enfluences.

Could be that I was just ignorant of what is considered common knowledge but much of it was new information to me. The fact that the book was not originally considered to be of divine origin, for example.
