"Christians are being persecuted in this town by the homosexual mafia who contribute money to the campaign coffers of officials," she told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "Why are they so afraid of letting the citizens of Dade County vote? It's very curious that they've made these arrests just before the election."
What a dumbass...

His attorney, Rosa Armesto, said the arrests were part of an anti-Christian conspiracy.

"Christians are being persecuted in this town by the homosexual mafia who contribute money to the campaign coffers of officials," she told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "Why are they so afraid of letting the citizens of Dade County vote? It's very curious that they've made these arrests just before the election."
Equally curious is the fact that Ms. Armesto's tirade includes no statement that her client is innocent. Implied message: lawlessness is A-OK so long as you're acting in the name of Jebus.

Miami-Dade County Elections Supervisor David C. Leahy said Friday the arrests and allegations of wrongdoing will not affect his certification of the petition.

* * * "There were quite a large number of signatures that I invalidated ... but I still had enough valid signatures that I determined that the petition was valid."

* * *

No to Discrimination/SAVE Dade sued to have the courts invalidate the petition and keep it from the ballot. Georg Ketelhohn, the group's campaign manager, said there has been no action by the court on the suit and there isn't likely to be any before the Sept. 10.
So it looks as though the vote will go forward despite the criminal chicanery involved in getting the initiative on the ballot.

This business of the "gay mafia" reminds me of a few years back when the minister for agriculture in the UK was outed, and this so soon after a member of the Welsh assembly was found to have been "soliciting" men, and also very soon after Peter Mandelson was outed. The Sun (trashy tabloid and the UK's best-selling paper) carried a headline saying "Is Britain being run by a gay mafia?"

This prompted Graham Norton (comic and TV presenter) to remark "What is the gay mafia? Do they come to your house and make you a quiche you can't refuse?"

Anyway, those Christians are idiots and talk nonsense, yes.

Dumbass:It's very curious that they've made these arrests just before the election."

And it's very curious that petitions were circulated just before the election.
