W C Fields, profound philosopher that he was, supposedly observed that all of the universe is composed of only three elements: "Hydrogen, Nitrogen, and Baloney."

Detecting design of the universe is a classic case of an experiment with no control, making it totally invalid. If God did design the universe, then we would have no idea of what 'undesign' actually was, and therefore no way to distinguish design. If he did not, then there are no instances of design to detect in any case.
I've pointed this out before to IDers (specifically those of a theist slant), and never received anything resembling a straight reply. Oh well... |

If humans, theists in particular, can rid themselves of the 13th century thinking that this vast, dark, and very cold universe was somehow created solely for our benefit, then we can get a greater realization of the bigger picture. That this universe is not solely for us, and futhermore, if by some chance this planet and every life form on it was to be destroyed, it would mean nothing to this universe that some think was intended for us. Everything will continue to function as is.

Well guys, I think that the best scientific theory to refute the belief that the universe is behaving orderly is the quantum theory. According to the theory, the universe behaves randomly and no God or any 'super' technology would be able to predict the behaviour of particles 100% accurately.
So, in short, even God would not know for sure what the hell is going to happen in the future. |
