Yeah... I'm in the category of things that don't like being categorized.

Do people have a problem with reading here? Should I have made my post shorter?

I think I'll stick with good old-fashioned Secular Humanism.

*Old Fashion* isn't going to be very helpful for developing the *New Fashion* we require for future developments.

Actually, as yet Science has yet to dis-prove or prove religious claims, specifically Christianity. In fact, there is plenty of research and theories backed by science that are making many of the "fallacies" of the Bible more possibly the truth....

Science has done nothing to specifically disprove the many bizarre myths of Christianity. It is not a discipline to disprove delusions. What they have found by "research" is that the historical accounts including the Battle of Megiddo, cities in the area of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the city of Ramses in the Nile Delta have been documented by archaeologists. We know that the historical accounts of Babylonian, Median, Persian, and Selucid kings in Daniel are fairly accurate history. None of this indicates that the Genesis Myth 1 or Genesis Myth 2 are true. Science has in fact totally debunked these. We KNOW that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old. We know the Earth is not flat but spherical, and goes around the Sun not the Sun around the Earth. Science shows that life began about 700 million years ago, and excellent pre-vertebrate fossils are seen in the Burgess Shale. Fossil and genetic evidence disproves the story of Magical Creation.

I'm sure you realize that most of history has been skewed by the "historian's" account of an event. My Father was a History teacher and he always reminded me about it.

Of course, the Bible writers had an agenda. They attributed natural phenomena and imaginary events to their invisible god.

I certainly hope you are not packaging all religious people(s). I would suppose President Bush is gullible, eh? (only one of MANY examples)

All religious people are gullible. They lack the ability to rationally process information in the frontal lobe circuits. Complex frontal circuits especially on the left form the rational filter, that evaluates data and rejects it if it is unsupported or irrational. Christianity is irrational, and acceptance of it means that the frontal "Rubbish Filter" has failed. We call such failure, gullibility.

Quite a bit of Science is performed by "religious" people.

In the Middle Ages and Renaissance many scientists were religious. The Enlightenment religious scientists were often Deists and/or liberal christians. They were definitely not fundamentalistic or Roman Catholic then. Organised Christianity has been the foremost enemy of science for 1700 years.

Most people don't have the time or money to become one of the great thinkers or scholars as you obviously are...

That is false. I know many scholars who rose from poverty. I lived in a poor Irish family in County Armagh, studied hard in school and got Doctoral degrees in Medicine and Biochemistry on my effort. I know many who grow up in wealth but are gullible and delusional. George Bush is a good example.

It most certainly does. At least with atheists you know what they don't believe. With this transhumansim, its just another religion made to look like its not.

But Atheism is just saying what we are not. We are not gullible and delusional, believing in invisible, improbable, unproven, and clearly invented gods. Transhumanism is a philosophy. You could call it equivalent to religion in that it has goals of helping humans, and non-humans and future humans in this real life existence. It dispenses with imaginary beings (gods) and imaginary life after death. Those are residuals of stone age tribal people. It seems our brains evolved faster than our growth out of dark superstitions from the Palaeolithic.

Obviously your trans people need something to believe in also...
Are those prophecies I see listed?

What is wrong with goals of improving the status of humans and non-humans? What is wrong with growth in knowledge and the decrease in ignorance and superstition? What is wrong with a better society? Theistic religions have largely ignored compassion and human betterment in favour of an imaginary future after one's death.

Isn't this what "cults" do?

No. Transhumanism is based on reason and science. Cults believe in transcendental ideas and a human leader who is god or nearly god (i.e. Jesus).

Yep definitely CULT!

Christianity fits the definition of a cult. Its horrid history of killing, persecution, suppression of knowledge, opposition to science, holding to irrational delusions, and appeal to imaginary mystical authority.

Transhumanism is the step that you take after you reach Secular Humanism. (just an opinion)

Sounds like yet another comfort drug to ease one's insecurity. Religion? Maybe not. But close enough.
