Talking Strange Collections

Do you collect or "hoard" any particular item, to an irrational extreme? (i.e. collecting something not of special value and that you couldn't get easily anytime).

My two bizzare things:

1. Lipstick/Lipgloss/Etc. (My husband calls me a Lipstick Ho.) At last count, I had... brace yourself... 87 (yes eighty-seven ) things of lipstick, lipgloss, flavored lipgloss and lipliners.

See, I have to have EVERY color and variation of color/shine/sparkliness/matte (of the colors I like, not *all* colors).

The weirdest part is that I tend to wear the same ones over and over, I may as well not even have, say, 70 of them. And my favorite one is the $2.19 tube of Bonne Bell LipSmackers in "Go Berry Wild" - yummy, perfect color and shine, and moisturizing! So of course I have 6 tubes of that alone - one in my purse, one in my car, one at my office and 3 still in the package because THEY MIGHT STOP MAKING IT!!!!!!!!

2. Sponges. No, not contraceptive sponges - regular household cleaning sponges (I like the ones that are curvy shaped and have brillo on one side). I have a whole drawer in my kitchen (a deep one) totally full of brand-new sponges. Every time I am at the grocery store I am compelled to buy one or two more.

I have no explanation for this one... I'm not OCD about them or anything (like using a new one every day).

Make your strange but true confessions here!!!

I have over 100 houseplants (in a 1200 sq ft house). Lots of different begonias, a nice range of Sanserverias, several small trees (citrus, advocado, etc.), a handful of philodendrons (but one more high on my list of plants to get), probably 2 doz orchids (Cymbidiums, Catalyas, a Dendrobium, and a really nice Stanhopea), a couple cycads, and assorted other plants.

Every window but one has at least a couple plants in it. I tend to like bigger plants which compounds the problem. OTOH, we don't really need drapes for several of our windows.

The thing is, I don't think it's an irrational extrme so maybe it doesn't quite count.

I once knew a Japanese bloke who collected airline cutlery (knives, forks, spoons, the lot).
He had 2 large drawers stacked full of airline cutlery.

Every time he handed his tray back to the stewardess, he said, he would cover it completely with a napkin, so the absence of missing items was not noticed.

I collect comic books..........and I collect hotel room bibles again. I travelled a lot last year for work, and I'd also take them out of other people's rooms. I had more than 20 but tossed a lot of them when I moved. I started collecting again though

I've been sitting at this computer so long that I've started to collect dust.

Naked pictures of infidels *j/k*.

Actually, I collect cell phone face plates. I never throw them out. I have one that looks like Dorothy's ruby slippers, one that features the Happy Bunny, one that looks like an oil spill in a parking lot, etc. I have to change them periodically.

I also collect Absolut ads from magazines. I collect magazines too. For some reason I refuse to get rid of any magazine that has a hottie (male or female) on the cover.

I have all the "One Nation ... Indivisible" Dr. Pepper cans I could get my hands on (3 - they were not done by the bottler in this region, my hometown region was out of them by the time I got down there).

Pratchett hardcover books. Also have one "irregular" paperback of his - some pages repeated, others not in it at all.

Tea tins - I drink a lot of tea. When I really started, Twinnings was a brand I could get easily and had several flavors I liked - they no longer have Russian Caravan (at least not the last time I checked), so no longer purchase their teas.

OSs - not that many of them are installed, but I think I have the installation disks from DOS 6.22/Window 3.11, Win 95, 98, and ME (no 2000 or NT or XP yet), 1 linux so far, but may get many more. Not intentional, but more of "I thought this game was cool, doesn't play on ..." so I have a copy of ... in case I ever want to try it.

Aluminum cans. But only because I keep forgetting to take them to the recycling place. My shed is chock full of them.
