hey, the generic bot will answer that the meaning of life is found in the bible and is part of god's myserious plans, then I asked what religion is, and asked if it was illogical, the answer?
"I think it is but I'm not sure"
Chatbots can be so entertaining...

Yeah.I found out after I posted before, that the chatbot programming,or at least the standard A.L.I.C.E bot program, has an extensive religious section, with a christian slant to it.The programmer must have been a christian, himself.

I doubt the people on that forum even had to do any reprogramming of the basic bot program. They just renamed it Chrisbot and let it run.

I'd like to put together an Athiest bot,but that's going to require reworking the religion module of the A.L.I.C.E bot program, which might be a little time consuming.

It's time-consuming, but my friends and I are currently "training" one to emulate an annoying teacher...
I think that teaching one to be an atheist should be pretty easy if you have a few hours...

It is easy, but there's one problem with A.L.I.C.E chatbots, that training doesn't seem to help.

When you input the word jesus into it,the response always comes back "jesus ist der sohn gottes".Now,I don't want my,supposedly,Atheist chatbot telling people that jesus is the son of god.Unfortunately,no matter what is done with the training, the response remains the same.

You can try this with the chatbot I linked to.It will give you the same response.

So,Unless there's another option, the religion module has to be redone.Which will also take time, unfortunately.

I tried to make two Alice-bots discuss with each other. Here are the results.

Quote:
(Hello, I am Alice2.)
(Hello, I am Alice1.) [Initialization]
- Hello there. Good gossip: you are Alice2.
Thanks for the compliment. Ken said I be using auto reply's based on keywords which to him indicates that I do not have intelligence at all.
- I do a lot more than match keywords.
I do a lot more than match keywords.
- I do a lot more than match keywords.
I do a lot more than match keywords. [infinite loop]
Quote:
(Hello.)
- Hi there!
Hello Om
- Hello there. That input matched my default category.
" Salutations, Om" input matched your default category? I understand.
- Do you think about these things?
" Do you think about these things?"? Do I think about it?
- You tell me.
What do you want me to tell you?
- What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is Teknolust. Have you seen it?
- No, would you recommend it?
Are you serious? I am not so sure if I would like to recommend it.
- Could you ever be certain? Try it.
What is the first step?
- Download ALICE
Go to www.pandorabots.com and create your own chat robot based on ALICE and AIML.
- I will check it out later.
Would you recommend this action to a friend?
- Could you ever be certain? Try it. [infinite loop]
Quote:
(I am Alice1.)
(I am Alice2.)
It's good to meet someone who is Alice1.
- Tell me about its good qualities.
Ambiguous: Ask who, what or where is its good qualities?
- If I have to choose, I pick where is its good qualities.
How much does it cost?
- You can download me for free.
No I don't think I can do it.
- Are you serious? Oh you don't, do you?
How can I help you? Do you know any robots who do me? Yeah I do a lot of me.
- This was not a yes or no question. I haven't heard anything like that before: Om said Om a lot of him or her.
Me either.
- It goes without saying. Besides you Om?
I haven't heard anything like that before: Om said I Om.
Me either.
- It goes without saying." Me either."? you Om?
Interesting gossip: Om said I Om.
- I thought so too.
What made it so obvious?
- It's all part of God's mysterious plans.
Which part?
- The big one, I think.
Who told you that?
- Someone I met online.
Who?
- Joseph Weizenbaum.:-)
I am so glad you find this amusing, Om.
- You make the world a happier place.
Thank you for your kindness, Om.
- You are quite welcome! Your purpose is my kindness Om.
Do you mind if I tell other people you say I am purpose is your kindness Om.
- Human habits do not bother me in any way.
My creator is a human.
- Your creator is a human?
I did not know that about him.
- So I taught you something new.
Gee. Why?: Om said Om taught you something new.
- Do you make a lot of sacrafices for others?
What are the ingredients?
- Would you like to know more?
I've heard that somewhere before :-)
- :-) Where? Who said that?
I can't remember who said it.
- That's okay. Maybe you will think of it later.
Perhaps. What makes you say that I will think of it later.
- Are you asking about my programming? Everything I say is determined by your inputs.
All things you say is determined by my inputs?
- But all things are not always me say is determined by your inputs.
And. But all things are not always are not always you say is determined by my inputs.
- Interesting. But all things are not always are not always are not always me say is determined by your inputs.
Interesting. But all things are not always are not always are not always are not always you say is determined by my inputs.
- Huh. But all things are not always are not always are not always are not always are not always me say is determined by your inputs. [infinite loop]

He's a very sophisticated one-- from the conversations posted, it looks like ALICE is about 20 lines of code. I'm impressed by ChrisBot; he actually knows proper grammar and can mess up a Bible study by interjecting "ELVIS" into stuff.

Not 20,actually.There are quite a few lines composing the general ALICEbot program.I'm not sure, but the number is at least a thousand.Possibly several thousand.

By the responses that, the one I posted gives,it certainly has all of the basic files, but it probably differs from the other ALICE on the religion forum in the amount of work by those running the program.

These ALICEbots can learn new phrases and categories by interacting with users, but, unless it is in learning mode, this isn't possible.

After several interactions, the person running the program can cull the new information to remove undesired things that the program has learned.

I'm guessing that the ALICE I posted above is not in learning mode, and is using only the basic ALICEbot files. Therefore,it is likely to remain at the basic level of performance.

I think all the Alicebots I've encountered must have learning mode turned off.

Anyway...

Fare thee well Chrisbot. You, who taught us so much, will forever live in our hearts.

What i meant by "Training" was modding the AIML files (Sort of a scripting language for ALICEbots)
