As bungled as the build-up to war has been, an invasion has at least plausible legal grounds, as I understand it.
But on what grounds can any country demand that another sovereign nation expel its leader (monstrous as they may be)? Since everybody knows Saddam & Sons will never comply with such a demand -- let alone in 48 hours -- the threat is mere window dressing; a way to blame Iraq for bringing war upon itself. |
