Also, I just looked up the Hebrew alphabet and found that, like Devanagari, it has 3 seperate characters for the palatal, retroflex, and dental silibants ('seen, .sadeh, and samek, respectively). So it's impossible that they would have confused the palatal silibant in "Shiva" for a combination of "s" and "h". It seems to me that your theory is both linguistically and historically improbable. |
