Someone told me that there is a difference between roman time-keeping and Hebrew time-keeping. He said it in reference to why John 19:14 says Jesus was crucified at the 6th hour, and why Mark 15:25 says he was crucified at the 3rd hour. Has anyone heard this, or know anything about this?

Both Romans and Jews counted 12 hours between sunrise and sunset (as confirmed by the Gospels, where does the phrase 'at the 11th hour come from?', and divided the night into 3 or 4 watches.

I forget whether the Romans had 3 or the Jews 4, but it is not so important.

Even conservative Bible dictionaries agree wuth this.
