"I'll second Orff's "O Fortuna" -- I can't listen to that without getting a lump in the throat. "

can I suggest you download the band Botch's cover of "o fortuna" its very chilling, but its metal/hardcore. So yeah... rock it.

but on undertow you completely overlooked crawl away which just fucking incredible.

lateralus really was as good as the first 3 albums. I didnt really like any song on the cd. I gave it away after a couple of weeks of listening to it. I think I mightbuy it again or download to give the cd a second chance.

anyway back to the critique.

on aenema you ignore the title track which kicks so much ass.

sorry, I take my tool very seriously.

maynard kicks alot of ass.
I don't argue with any of those choices, and I admit I left out a lot of stuff (I completely forgot all about Opiate :banghead: It's a good disc, though I liked the later stuff much better). But I was posting with only my absolute favorite songs in mind. Aenema's title track definitely kicks ass, but I still like Eulogy or Stinkfist better. Just a matter of taste, really

I was disappointed in Lateralus at first as well, basically because I expected another Aenema and it really is a totally different kind of sound. But I'd suggest you get it again - it does grow on you. It's playing right now as I write this, actually

Raised Fist, "Get This Right" or "Between The Demons"
Converge, "Bitter And Then Some"
Strife, "Waiting"
Unearth, "Endless"
Embrace Today, "Die Trying"

Hell, even Linkin Park borrowed their "sound".

Oh, what else:

Rage against the machine - anything

Orff - Carmina Burana

R. Strauss - Death and Transfiguration
The hero's battlefield (from Ein Heldenleben or "A Hero's life")

Yes, me too. Lateralus did grow on me after a while. I think it starts off great with The Grudge ("Saturn ascends/Choose one or ten"), and later the pair (you've gotta take 'em that way, IMHO) of Parabol and Parabola are just awesome together!

Yeah, and not just in Tool, but also as part of A Perfect Circle! Judith comes to mind.

Also, Three Days by Jane's Addiction!

Quote:
Fanfare for the Common Man, by Aaron Copland.
Seconded!

Also, Bach's Tocatta and Fugue in D minor for the organ, the only way to play it!

Holst's Mars: The Bringer of War from The Planets.

There's a work by Charles-Marie Widor for the organ which I have on a CD at home, but can't think of it right now. I believe it's a fugue on B-A-C-H, but anyway, it's f***ing amazing!
