"No matter how small"? Well, in that case, it might not be the Ark, since that supposedly carried two of every species present on the earth, along with enough food for them all.

Check out Carroll's entry on Noah's ark at the Skeptic's Dictionary. The answer is "something else." |

Another thought to keep in mind is that over the last few thousand years monks have built many monastaries on the mountain in an attempt to become more holy. Also, many herders have built shelters for themselves to block the wind from tormenting them while tending sheep and goats. Whatever wood that someone may find does not neccesarily belong to the ark.

Even the people who believe that the flood happened admit that no proof or remains of the ark have been found. There are several roughly boat-shaped rock formations on the Ararat, and of course an ark-enthuastic could pick any of them to photograph as the ark. Is it possible that the story of the Ark could have originated. Cause people looking up the mountain would think they saw a huge boat. And someone eventually made up a story about how the ark got there?. Just a little theory. [ June 19, 2002: Message edited by: Tim Sweitzer ]</p> |
