When I know I am dealing with a fundy I tell them I am a reborn atheist.
me: I am a reborn Atheist. them: no your not. me: Sware to god. If they start really giving me crap I just turn it aournd on them and tell them they they don't really belive in god. After a while they get pissed and leave. |

I once had someone try to tell me that since the word atheism has the word 'theism' in it that proved there couldn't be true atheists.

I became a fundy for 10 years, and finally came to my senses about 2-3 years ago. "Re-born atheist" sounds like a good description for me. ![]() I have been accused of "not really being an atheist" since I un-fundied myself. Usually people think I'm just angry at God or something, and I know they're thinking that "he'll come back to God one day, just you wait and see." That annoys me quite a lot, but I don't lose any sleep over it. |

It may be almost impossible to be excommunicated nowadays, but over here in England it is also virtually impossible to be prosecuted for blasphemy! (Oh, how I would have loved to be a part of that.)
I think a certificate of de-baptism is available from the (British) National Secular Society website... ah yes, here it is. Martin |

I'm really glad I was a Methodist.
Me: I would like to resign my membership of the Methodist Church. Them (in the person of my then-minister): Why? Me: I no longer believe in god. Them: Why? Me: Because of x, y & z. Them: Are you really sure? Me: Yes. Them: Ok, we'll take your name off the list & send you a letter to say we've done so. I wish everyone had as easy a time of it. TW |
