Default Consider the source...

It's a decent enough essay, but the vast majority of what's on rense.com is unmitigated bullshit. Unless, of course, you're a true believer in things like UFOlogy, vast government conspiracies, and the face on Mars...

Charley Reese is mainstream.

Here's a very good article on how the corporate media simply relays the government propaganda.

rebellions are crushed, no doubt about that, no bricks in my window here

just a couple of differences between saddams and the US civil war though

1) how the south was treated after the civil war was vastly different than the treatment of the kurds

2) lincoln did not order the killing of an unarmed civilian population, just the destruction of their infrastructure, hence their ability to wage war. the deaths were largely the result of two armies facing off

I really don't think that tony blair would gas the scots if they rebelled, well i don't think the scots would have an armed rebellion anyway.

Mainstream only to someone living way out in left field.

Isn't that really the same thing, in effect? You can't burn Atlanta to the ground without killing innocents, and you can't bomb Baghdad to the ground without killing innocents.

You're just as dead if you get shot.

That's kind of my point. No, you might not die directly from a bomb or bullet, but it's awfully hard to get proper supplies of food and medicine in a bombed-out war zone. And then you die. You're still dead. I hate when people use phrases like "destroying infrastructure" because it totally dehumanizes the effects. It's a cop out.

Do you even recognize a distinction between bombing railways to prevent troop movement and bombing suburbs for the hell of it?
