I've always been partial to the humour inherent in misreading certain words; such as seeing a company "J. Smith and company, shopfitters" and misreading it as "...shoplifters"
In this context I was reading some theist's post today and misread "theodicy" as "theidiocy" |

I drive by a christian restaurant everyday on my way to work, and one day they had on their sign out front, "Jesus died so that you could have everlasting life." then underneath it said, "All you can eat buffet."
I glanced at it and thought it read, "Jesus died so you could have the all you can eat buffet." still cracks me up when I drive by the place. |

There's an office building near my home with a sign reading:
"Burgess and Niple" I always read it as "Burgers and Nipples". A very interesting fast food joint, no doubt. |

There used to be a commercial for a lighting shop's "Big Flick" sale with "THE BIG FLICK" written on the screen in big capital letters. You know how sometimes a capital L and I next to each other can look like a U?
They don't use that commercial anymore. The same thing happened to me with my coworker's name, Clint, when he wrote in capital letters on a signup sheet for something, but that wasn't as funny. |

There used to be a clothing store in Corsicana that took regular ads out in the local paper. They put out an add which should have read "New Shirts" but someone left the r out of shirts and the whole page ad read "New Shits".

Reading a post today (I don't remember where it is), someone mentioned "horrible travesties" and I thought it was "horrible transvestites" for a moment...
![]() Surse made me take a second look. |

Back in Calgary, heading into work (in the industrial park) there was a sign on the side of the road advertising "new warehouse: space available." Unfortunately, they spelled warehouse "wharehouse." Could've sworn it said whorehouse every time I drove past.
