Way back in the Reagan dark ages, a "friend" signed be up for the Moral Majority. They sent lots and lots of stuff with lots and lots of return envelopes. I saw myself as performing a friction role on the MM, and dutifully sent them back, empty at first, then with these sheets of lead I got at a surplus place. Then I realized I could attach them to packages, and started sending anything I could get into the PO's outgoing mail slot (this was back when you could do such things). Bricks were my favorites.

Anyway... we buy Dannon. I'll buy a bit more next time, just to make up for some of the fundys...

Yeah... femtheism's not so radical. Every true social conservative knows that the most wicked liberal feminists are part of that left-wing pro-homosexual New World Order atheist communist agenda!

They need to know who their real enemies are in the culture war. (get it? Okay, I'm going to bed now...)

Actually, a few centuries after its origin, Xianity would invent lots and lots of saints of both sexes; Jesus Christ's mother got turned into a mother-goddess figure.

However, that never stopped the Church from being hopelessly sexist.

And not surprisingly, JC's mother is a wimp in comparison with Isis or Artemis or Hera or numerous other female pagan deities.

Question

All the "father" metaphors aside, no modern Christian actually believes God has a sex... do they? I mean, isn't it rather limiting to suppose that the Omnipotent Eternal Creator of the Universe must fit into one of two categories into which certain multicellular terrestrial organisms are divided for purposes of increased genetic diversity in procreation?

You should take a look at <a href="http://iidb.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=45&t=000932&p=3" target="_blank">this thread.</a>

Christians, especially Catholics believe their Sky Daddy has one big ol' penis and because of that sent his son (failing to realize the culture that surrounds their myth, er ... ehm... I mean religion that was a bunch of ignorant, misogynist, goat herders that preferred their sheep ... ) and that although their God made man AND woman in the IMAGE of God (does this mean their God is a hemaphrodite?) that God is ONLY masculine. Therefore, women cannot represent their penis wielding God because they lack the proper genitalia For some reason it seems that having a vagina somehow makes one incapable of performing their pagan rituals of taking God "into them" while turning stale wafers and cheap wine into the body and blood of their deity, so they can eat him and become part of that body.

It's so terrible that genocidal maniacs and child rapists are extended forgiveness and eternal protection by the Church but those icky beasts born with vaginas who attempt to represent Christ are excommunicated and receive the harshest punishments. For they "unlawfully broke into the sanctuary of the subconcious minds of man" .... I know ... the horror

If you want some amusement, keep an eye open for a church that has a service that uses female pronouns for god and jesus. I seem to remember one church in Manhattan, KS doing this at some point in the 90s (maybe during easter) - looking at the response of the community (at least those who spoke up), you would think this church service was responsible for the crucifixion in an of itself. My lesson from this: god doesn't have a gender, but you DAMN WELL BETTER REFER TO IT AS MALE.

Now, is it just me, or does the "all animals are created equal, but some are more equal than others" (Animal Farm) apply just as well to religion as it does to the communism it was parodying?

Hey, I was at a party once where a woman wrote her name in the snow in front of a lot of people. She wrote "Pat", which is simple as far as names go, but still.

Some people suffer from "I look at life way to seriously" disease. Anyone who thinks that Dannon Yogurt is expressing an honest theological belief in its advertisements needs his head examined. The damn company was simply trying to use a metaphor to explain that women who are watching their waistlines will like their product.
