Give up. Technology is hopelessly complex.

Download and install a distro of GNU/Linux. You'll get the GIMP, a very powerful, Photoshop-like Image Manipulation Program included. A new OS and a photo editor all for $0. Cool!

Never could make GIMP work properly. Too hopelessly inmeshed with PaintShop Pro, I suppose.

BTW: PSP 6 will run quite nicely in WINE.... haven't tried 7 yet.

... or even simply cropping it in PE will reduce the file size. So, unless you've got some extreme close-up, you can crop some part out, save it as a new filename and check the size on that file. I've found sometimes just cropping a small part, say off the bottom (top or side, doesn't matter) will actually greatly reduce file size. But it depends ... so play around with it a bit. And good luck!

Hey, it only took me the past few days to figure out what I was doing wrong (but how other people could resize it if I emailed it to 'em.) I'm not even telling what I was doing wrong - it's way too lame.

But ANYWAY, testing testing... a shot of the view from my office
