Actually, we have a thread completely devoted to the subject of prayer under this forum. Read it and see what the implications of prayer might mean, with participations of both theists and atheists.

Quote:
And i don't just believe what others say about him. I've been a participant in miracle that can't be explained by any logical or human means and understanding - something so life altering, to deny its divine origin is to dismiss everything i know as a person. I don't just believe in God, i feel God's precense. There have been studies on the effects of prayer. Where people who were sick on the other side of the world, were prayed for ( without the sick person's knowledge) and they were healed in a way medicine can't even explain. Someone told me a story about how their dad was visited by an angel on his death bed. In the hospital a nurse saw a man walk into his dads room. The nurse saw the man go into the one exit/entrance room. The nurse walked over to the room and when she walked in - the man had vanished. And since she was watching the door the whole time - he couldn't have slipped by her. The nurse told the man's family an actual angel visited him.
Living in East Asia most of my life, I would say these happened "all the time", except that none was considered Christian miracles. People thanked the Buddha, their ancestors, and the Sea Goddess for these alleged "miracles". There were also ghost events (I personally experienced one firsthand) that were reported all the time.

Anthropologists in our time also documented other "miracles" believed by the locals, often with their own cultural and religious significance. For example, Lila Abu-Jaghod's "Writing Women's World--Bedouin studies" reported about Bedouin nomads going into cities for Islamic "faith healers" in matters of disease and childbirth. The Bedouins also testified about the effectiveness of Islamic prayers and rituals with regards to health issues.

Not to mention the Pergamon in Turkish Antiquity, testified by the Apollo believers about the sacred springs' healing power.

So be extremely careful of personal testimonies.

philechat:
Those miracles from those false gods were caused by the devil... trying to lead people away from the true god... (the Christian one)

No. Allah is the One True God. All the other miracles are corruptions of His word and works of the Devil.

Praise Allah, my dear . And jihad to all infidels.
