Well, if you weren't just bubbling over with frothing, sugary happiness when you were a "Christian," you obviously were never a real Christian.

And now that you are happy, you're ... uh, you're ... wait, I'll think of some way to deal with this incongruity ...

Ah, yes, you really are a Christian deep down, even though you say you aren't, and aren't praying and spending time with God, and ... uh ... well, maybe that dodge doesn't work ...

Or, maybe you aren't really happy now, you just think you're happy. You may feel happy, but are you really happy? I mean, what you just feel is ... uh, well, happiness is a feeling, isn't it, so, maybe that doesn't work either ...

... um ...

I CAN'T MAKE SENSE OF YOU! GO AWAY!

Many congrats, blondegoddess, I'm happy to hear the good report!

I'm so happy to hear things are becoming bearable for you now, blondegoddess. Sometimes that ol' religion thing makes daily life more miserable than it has to be, as you've seen.

This reminds me so much of my own deconversion. *wistful sigh*

I think what you're feeling is quite a common response. When I first realized I was an athiest, the old Bible verse, the truth shall set you free had a totally new meaning to me. It's such a relief to know that when something goes wrong, it's not the result of some capricious diety lashing out, isn't it?

I found that many common verses and even common phrases took on a whole new meaning to me. It was like solving a big riddle where great minds throughout history have been leaving clues for you to figure out the real "Meaning of Life".

Just wanted to say thanks. I am glad that many others went through this when they deconverted. Now that the veil of religion has been removed, I feel as if I have a keener sense of perception about the world around me. Take care all!
