The cosmos doesn't care whether you're gravitationally attracted to the earth either, but that doesn't mean that Newton's laws will be violated and you'll float off into space. Just because it's called cosmic censorship doesn't mean the cosmos is making some conscious decision to hide singularities... it's just a funny name. Physicists have a dry sense of humor.
