Exclamation Stick a fork in Buffy...

she's done!

Never watched it 'cause it didn't look interesting, so can't say as I'm sad.

I guess this means that we should lock all the buffy threads and ban any new ones because they are irrelevant. I'll get started on that soon.

um, duh?

SMG decided like a year ago that she was not signing a new full time contract for Buffy.

We've been discussing the options for a spinoff for like months in the Buffy threads... actually, since season 5 (two seasons ago) when they introduced Dawn...

must say, it is an interesting show. You missed a good 140 hours.

'nuff said.

I don't mind in some ways, because they've really done all they can with this show, and it's time to let it go. After the 8th or 9th ep of Season 6, the show really lost focus, and it's kind of sucked since then.

On the other hand, I still love the characters, and will miss seeing them in new episodes. I hold out hope for a Faith spinoff.

Shake, you ought to give the reruns on FX a shot. My wife and I were the same as you--we had no interest in the show the first 5 seasons it was on. Then we caught the musical episode, and watched part of a Buffy marathon on FX, and we fell for it HARD. I mean, we were literally Buffy junkies. I actually moved up my purchase of a larger, stereo TV and a satellite dish that got local channels, and renewed our DirecTV sub, just so we could watch Buffy on FX and UPN.

The first 5 seasons of Buffy are simply wonderful TV, filled with drama, humor, horror, excellent plotting and character development, fantastic acting, just everything you want from a TV series, really. All this carried over into about the first 1/3 of Season 6 as well, then all of a sudden, pffftt.

I think I watched the show once and thought it was really stupid. So, depending on who you ask, either you missed out or you're lucky and didn't have to suffer any of it.

I just have a thing against shows that take themselves too seriously yet are so goofy that it makes no sense what so ever. I really liked Buffy the movie but it was light-hearted and fun. The show was just... too teeny-boppy.

And you base all this on ONE episode? Even die-hard Buffy fans agree that there were a few bad episodes in the first five seasons. Every show has them.

Your description applies to Seasons 6 and 7 (which I won't even try to defend, they really have pretty much sucked) but not at all to Seasons 1-5. In those seasons the show never "took itself too seriously" and was never "so goofy it made no sense whatsoever." If it was I wouldn't have watched it. I don't waste my time watching crap, thank you.

I don't care if Buffy isn't your cup of tea but it is not "stupid."

Hey, I thought I was pretty nice about it!

I just really don't understand how you can judge an entire series like Vespertine did on the basis of one episode. If you watched an episode and didn't think the show was anything you'd be interested in, fine--I do the same thing. But how do you determine from a single episode that the show as a whole "takes itself too seriously" or is "too goofy to make sense" ?

I'm worse than Vespertine in a way because I dismissed the show out of hand without watching ANY episodes. I, too, took it for a "teeny-bopper" show like 90210 or Dawson's Creek, because, after all, I knew the stars were teenagers. But that's as far as I went. There really wasn't anything else I could say about the show without watching a few episodes.

I didn't personally say any of you were stupid for watching it, I just felt that it was stupid. I can say that, I'm entitled to my opinions whether they're 'stupid' or not.

Okay, so I exaggerated, I watched the show a few more times to see what the hype was about, but I still didn't get it. I know people get emotional when others make fun of something they like (almost obsessively in some cases). I'll try to 'tone down' my wordings in the future, if it pleases you all. Just don't be a hypocrite and rant about how 'B' Horror Movies are so stupid because I like them.
