It was benificial to us to sell weapons rather than join in with numbers. And true the russkies threw in with the big H, but the fact is that they still lost a significant amount of their population before the non-agression pact.
My point is that saying "We bailed those pussy Euro's out in WWII, and dozens of times since then" is completely untrue.
