I tried that with a friend of mine. Her response? But her God is the only real one of course, and all the evidence points to it. I think the only way to get theists to realise that the difference between the religions is negligable would be to get a whole group of serious theists from every religion and sit them together. Then they can talk about all the religious experiences they'd like, which is the only real "proof" any of my friends seem to have anyway. Bah.

I got this recently from a christian trying to back me into a corner by describing to him the god of the bible how I perceive it. Obviously he would then turn around and tell me how I'm wrong and he wouldn't believe in that kind of god either.

When last faced with the same question I replied "Spare me your games. I don't believe in ANY god. Have you no idea what an Atheist is?" as gruffly as possible.
For all intents and purposes Christianity is a religion based on deceit. Xians will not hesitate to change their definition of what god is. I've seen them change it from one thing to another without having to take a breath. The amazing thing is that when they do this they think it's perfectly alright for them to do this. It doesn't even occur to them that they are telling a lie.
You could have heard this guy describe god earlier in the evening and repeated his description back to him word for word and he would still tell you that you were wrong.
