Puh-leaze excuuuuuuse me... the words "Christian" and "morality" side by side?! "Morality" from those who have a place of eternal sadistic torture as one of the essentials of their religion? Don't make me laugh (or cry).

Those who put their Bible as their standard have pretty much forfeited any claims for morality. The Bible is as anti-morality as can be.

What I like to point out to Christians who pull the morality issue: Nearly every moral issue ever raised had Christians on every possible side: slavery, women's rights, abortion rights, child labor, minimum wage, war, you name it. Now, if Christians have the "perfect" moral code, how could they possibly have different answer to a moral question. I suggest that no matter the religion, much of the morals a person gets is instilled by the community to which they belong.

I personally do not believe in any deity, however, if the christian god did exist I don't think that his morality would necessarily be contingent at all. Perhaps 'morality' is just a term created by humans that refers to actions/behaviour that is congruent with the christian god's intrinsic nature??
If that was the case then 'morality' would not be objectively good or bad,it would simply be actions/behaviour that is consistent with god's nature.
Perhaps if god had a different intrinsic nature (one that might include things that we with our current mind states consider immoral)then we would have a completely different view of morality.
As I stated before, I don't believe in any deity, this is just food for thought for those that ask the question "if morality comes from god then where does he get it from".

cheers
